A Journey of Breakage, Frustration, and Faith
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted long, healthy hair. But my journey to achieving it has been anything but easy. My struggles started in middle school when my mom let me take care of my own hair. That’s when I first began experiencing split ends, heat damage, dryness, and breakage. I didn’t know how to properly care for my hair, and over time, it started breaking off so badly that I had to go to a stylist for a short cut.
As I got older, I still struggled with breakage, single-strand knots, color damage, and over-manipulation. Working long hours and dealing with stress caused me to neglect my hair, leading to even more damage. Every time I went to my hairstylist, she would get scissor-happy and cut off all my new growth, leaving me frustrated and feeling like I could never achieve the long, healthy hair I desired. No matter how hard I tried, my hair always seemed to stay the same length—or worse, get shorter.
The Shift: Learning to Trust God with My Hair
I finally realized that something had to change. I started switching my hair care products to better ones, going to a new stylist on a consistent basis, and educating myself on natural hair care. But the biggest shift in my hair growth journey wasn’t just in the products I used—it was in my faith.
As I grew in my walk with God, I learned that He truly cares about every detail of my life—including my hair. When I read “But even the hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matthew 10:30), I realized that if God takes the time to number each strand of my hair, then surely He cares about its health and restoration. That revelation changed everything.
A Breakthrough in Prayer and Consistency
I began to pray over my hair and declare scriptures of restoration and health. I spoke life over my hair and trusted that God would restore what was lost. At the same time, I remained consistent—not just in my hair care routine, but in my faith. As I nurtured my hair with better products and care, I also nurtured my spirit with prayer and scripture.
Then, I began to see real results. My hair started to flourish, strengthen, and grow in ways I had never seen before. The breakage lessened, my strands became healthier, and for the first time, I was able to see true progress. It wasn’t just about the hair care—it was about trusting God in the process.
Encouragement for Others on Their Hair Growth Journey
If you’re struggling with hair growth, I want you to know this: God cares about everything you care about. He sees your frustration, your desire for change, and your efforts to restore your hair. And more than that—He is a restorer.
Keep the hope. Don’t give up. Stay consistent, speak life over your hair, and trust that God will restore your crown even more beautifully than before. His Word is true, and if He says, “But not a hair of your head will perish” (Luke 21:18), then you can stand on that promise.
God is faithful, and just as He has brought strength from my struggle, He will do the same for you. Trust Him, stay the course, and watch your hair—and faith—flourish.
